Rubén Durán
Director, Reality Collab
Houston Community College
Rubén Durán founded the Reality Collab at Houston Community College in 2016. Since 2018, he has been instrumental in collaborating with faculty and administration to enhance simulations and visualization processes in the Architectural Design & Construction Center of Excellence. Extended Reality (XR), Virtual Reality (VR), and Augmented Reality (AR) have been integrated into the curriculum, empowering students with valuable emerging tech skills. XR technologies promise to achieve team alignment, collaboration, and design on even the most complex projects. Notably, Rubén recently collaborated with SKANSKA on a Digital Twin project. He has presented at national and international conferences, including Educause, AACC Annual Conference, Kaltura Connect, and the ASHRAE Conference.
Stephen James
Technical Communications Manager

Stephen James is currently a Technical Communications Manager at SLB, where he leads the creation of technical content for the Completions and Artificial Lift business lines. The TechCom team has swiftly adopted digital technologies to enhance documentation delivery. One of their latest ventures involves exploring extended reality (XR) technologies. Although the team is in the early stages of XR deployment, the potential for this technology is immense, offering immersive experiences that significantly boost user engagement. Stephen and his team are actively developing virtual experiences designed to revolutionize equipment interaction.
Before his current role, Stephen held positions in New Product Development (NPD) and Technology Lifecycle Management (TLM). In addition to his responsibilities as TechCom Manager, he also oversees the Athena Innovation program for the division, an incubation hub for groundbreaking ideas. Furthermore, Stephen serves as the Sustainability Champion for the Completions business line, driving initiatives that align with environmental and sustainability goals.
