Design Build Done Wrong - A Project Case Study

APRIL 15

BREAKOUT SESSION #1

2:15 PM

Colorado Room

1 DBIA Credit Hour (AIA Credits Pending)

Design Build Done Right has become the message of DBIA's best practices guideline and movement. The reality is that the power of a design build delivery has to be planned and managed carefully to prevent misuse of the delivery arrangement and prevent disastrous project outcomes and erosion of the public trust. This presentation will examine 3 case study projects that failed to deliver design build excellence and will propose guidelines to prevent similar outcomes from occurring on your future project.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Attendees will learn about the standard practices on a project that can become red flags for future project problems as the project progresses.

  2. Attendees will review several project case studies and identify where project teams failed to deliver design build excellence.

  3. Attendees will learn proactive measures that they can implement on future projects to prevent similar negative outcomes.

  4. Attendees will review the DBIA Best Practices for Design Build Done Right.
